A NOTE ABOUT THIS DIRECTORY

The purpose of this directory is to provide a resource for learning about and identifying professional mediators in Alaska who may be able to assist with conflict resolution. We do not employ mediators and are not a contracting entity.  Each mediator possesses his or her own qualifications and policies and works independently of Professional Mediators of Alaska. 

A listing in this directory does not constitute an endorsement of any particular mediator by this Association. Professional Mediators of Alaska does not conduct an independent investigation of a mediator’s background or verify the mediator's experience or credentials. This Association strongly urges you to conduct an independent inquiry concerning a prospective mediator's training, experience, skills, professional reputation, style, and overall suitability for your particular situation.

SELF-CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Mediators listed in this directory have self-certified that they:

1. Have completed a concentrated 40-hour course in mediation.
2. Completed an additional 5 hours of mediation-specific training in the previous year.
3. Conducted a minimum of 6 mediations in the last year (volunteer mediations included).
4. Agree to abide by the Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators, endorsed by the American Arbitration Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association for Conflict Resolution. 
5. Currently carry professional liability insurance for their work as a mediator.
6. Agree to hold harmless and indemnify Professional Mediators of Alaska from any claim or cause of action arising out of their work as a mediator.
